Secret Rare is the highest category of Pokémon card rarity, and Secret Rare cards differ in several ways from lower-rarity cards. First, they have a collector card number that's higher than the advertised set number — hence the "secret" in their name. Second, for every Secret Rare card in a Pokémon set, there's usually a card of a lower rarity that's identical from a gameplay perspective. Third, the jump from Ultra Rare to Secret Rare can be much steeper than any other rarity jump.
