Buylist Policy

Created: March 25th, 2024

All buylist submissions, either in-store or mailed in, are subject to this policy. Failure to adhere to any of these policies may result in us suspending your buylist privileges. 

You must be over the age of 18 to receive payment for a buylist or have a parent/guardian of legal age do so on your behalf.

We reserve the right to refuse any offer made to us or to limit the number of cards that we will accept at any time, for any reason.

Submitting A Request

To start the process of selling your cards to us, you must:

  1. Drop by with your cards and have our staff appraise them or;
  2. Submit your desired sell list via our Buylist. Upon acceptance of your submission, you may drop your cards off or mail them in.

Navigating

Click on the category of trading card game you wish to sell. To see if a card is on our buylist, you can use the filters to drill down on sets, rarity, and price. Or, you can search for the card directly in the search bar. 

Pricing

Our buylist prices are provided for your information only and should not be considered as an offer to buy.

All buylist prices listed are for Near Mint and English cards only, unless otherwise indicated.

We will generally honour buy prices on cards at the time of submission as long as we receive the cards within 14 days of submission for in-store drop-offs and 21 days of submission on mail-in buylists. If it does not arrive within that timeframe, we may reprice your buylist based on the current buylist prices.

However,  we reserve the right to decline to buy a card at a given price at any time, for any reason. You will be contacted and informed of any potential changes made in this way, and they will not be processed until we come to an agreement.

Adding Cards

The current price for each single is listed under each card. Once you locate the card you wish to sell, enter the quantity you wish to sell and click the green “Add to Buylist” button.

Payment Types

Once you have added all of the singles you wish to sell, select the payment type you wish to receive for your singles. You can choose to receive cash or store credit.

Card Condition

When adding a card, it’s important to select the card condition that accurately reflects the state your card is in. If you are unsure of the card condition, please refer to our Card Condition Guide. Note that Emmett’s ToyStop will have the final say on the condition of any card submitted to our buylist.

Checking Out

Ensure your email address is correct, as we use this to refer to your account and buylist status. If there has been a change to your email address, or if you’ve made an error, please contact us.

Once you’ve checked out, you will receive a confirmation email from us with your buylist details. If you do not receive an email, please check your junk or spam folder. If it has not arrived after 24 hours, please contact us or resubmit your buylist.

Submitting Your Cards

Before dropping off or shipping your buylist, ensure your cards are sorted in the order shown on the checkout page and confirmation email. Failure to do so will result in a 15% sorting fee. This fee will be deducted from your buylist total.

If you no longer have access to your submitted buylist, contact us with your buylist order number or email address and we will resend your confirmation.

In-Store Drop-Off

In-store submissions may be dropped off anytime during our open hours, you do not need to wait for an email confirmation.

Shipping Your Cards

For mail-in submissions, your buylist must be approved before you mail us your cards. Do not ship your cards to us if you have not received an approval email. If you do not receive an approval email after 3 business days, please contact us. Sending us an item constitutes an offer to sell the item "as is".

Any supplies sent in as packaging for submissions (i.e. deck boxes, binders, sleeves, etc.) will not be returned.

You must include your buylist ID in the address, or write it on the outside of your package.

We strongly recommend that you ship your cards with tracking and insurance.

Fees

Any shipping, handling, and customs fees incurred while sending us your cards are your responsibility. If your package arrives with payment due, we will deduct that amount from the offer we make you. If your buylist total cannot cover the cost, or if you reject the offer we make, you will be charged for any requested return postage and fees.

Lost or Damaged Shipments

We are not responsible for any packages lost or damaged during transit. If your package arrives at our facility with obvious damage, we will refuse delivery and you will be responsible for contacting the shipping company to file a claim.

Buylist Processing

Once we receive your cards, we process your buylist and resolve any discrepancies between the submitted information and the cards we've physically received, such as condition, quantity, or type. 

Any buylists with excessive errors may receive a rejection, and/or a possible suspension of Buylist privileges.

Deductions

If there are any errors found in your buylist (i.e., wrong cards, wrong editions, missing, damaged, and unacceptable items) we will automatically deduct the difference in price from your buylist total. 

If there is a significant change to your order total, we may contact you to confirm that you wish to proceed with the sale. If you do not respond within 3 business days, we may contact you again to confirm, but do reserve the right to issue you the adjusted payment and close out the transaction.

If you wish to have your damaged cards returned, we will deduct the cost of shipping from your total and will mail them back to you. If the payment from your buylist does not cover the cost to return, you will be required to pay for the cost of return shipping.

Once a deduction is accepted - including deductions that did not receive a response - and processed, any cards received will then be considered the property of Emmett’s ToyStop and will no longer be eligible to be returned, as they will have been processed into our inventory. 

Payment

The payment amount is not finalized until we process your submission and make you an offer. We do not accept cash on delivery.

We offer three methods of payout for buylist submissions:

  1. Cheque (For payouts over $2,000)
    1. Most banks require you to have a bank account to cash a cheque.
    2. Cheques are made out to the name you provide at the time you submit your buylist. You must use your full, correct name associated with your bank.
    3. For mail submissions, cheques are shipped via Canada Post, expedited and with tracking, to the address provided during your submission.
    4. If you would prefer to pick up your cheque in person at one of our locations, you will be notified by email when your cheque is ready for pickup.
    5. International customers cannot be paid by cheque.
  2. E-Transfer (For payouts under $2,000) 
    1. You must be signed up for web banking to receive an e-transfer.
    2. If opting for e-transfer, ensure the email used for payment matches the address used to submit your buylist.
    3. e-Transfers are paid out within 48 hours of confirmation.
    4. International customers cannot be paid by e-Transfer
  3. PayPal, or; 
    1. You must already have a PayPal account under the same email address used to create the buylist request.
    2. Payment is subject to applicable PayPal fees (PayPal charges 2.9% plus CAD 0.30 per transaction). As a result, you will receive less than the finalized total of your buylist after PayPal fees.
  4. Store Credit (Issued as a gift card) 
    1. Payment will be processed as an online gift card sent to the email used to submit your buylist.
    2. Store credit is non-refundable, and cannot be transferred or converted to another payment type or currency.

If you would like PayPal or E-Transfer payment sent to an email address that’s different from the address used to submit your buylist, please note it down in your order or reply to your confirmation email with this information. 

If you wish to change your payment method, you must notify us before we’ve processed your order. We cannot change payment methods after processing.

Payments are generally made within 1-2 business days after your buylist has been processed.
